Located in Shibuya-ku which is a special ward in Tokyo Prefecture in Japan, Shibuya Crossing is a famously known scramble crossing located in front of the Hachiko Exit of the Shibuya Station.

Ready to cross Shibuya Crossing

We got to visit Shibuya Crossing on the last day of our 3-day Disney Adventure in Chiba Prefecture. This was during the 20th day of our 2014-2015 Japan trip.

Ready to cross the famous crossing!

Here we go!

The famous Shibuya 109

Shibuya Crossing is usually or let's say commonly featured in local television shows. However, it gained worldwide fame when it was featured in several Hollywood films like Lost in Translation, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Resident Evil Afterlife and Retribution.

Aside from the crossing itself, the area is known for its shopping districts, restaurants, statues, and not to mention its red-light district. Ehem! Speaking of statues, one of the most famous statues in Japan is located near Shibuya Crossing. It is the bronze statue of Hachiko (famously known as Hachiko Statue) which is the inspiration of the American film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale."

Going back to Shibuya Crossing, your visit to Shibuya City won't be complete without crossing it with what I dub as the sea of people. If you want it to be more hardcore, cross it during rush hour and wear something with a striking color. You would surely stand out among the usually black and white crowd.

Look at what we saw before we crossed!

When we went to Shibuya Ward, our main purpose was to see the Hachiko Statue. Crossing the Shibuya Crossing was just a bonus.

Why visit Shibuya Crossing?

Probably the most famous crossing in the world, Shibuya Crossing became part of pop culture when it was featured in numerous local and international films. Although there's really nothing much to do in this area but to cross it back and forth, it's still something worth doing at least once in your life. So, when in Shibuya City, find time to see and cross Shibuya Crossing.

Getting to Shibuya Crossing:

From Haneda International Airport, ride the Keikyu Line train to Shinagawa Station. From there transfer to the JR Yamanote Line going to Shibuya Station.

From Shibuya Station, Hachikō Statue's just a few meters away from the entrance going to Shibuya Crossing.

  1. One of the busiest places that I have ever been too. It`s a tourist trap.
