Japan Diaries 4: Week 29
Week 29: May 16 - 20, 2022
Day 196: May 16, 2022
Monday - Rumoi
It's the start of another week here at Rumoi High School. This Friday, I will be celebrating my 200th day here in Rumoi City as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) under the JET Programme. However, I didn't plan any special activities to celebrate that as I will be in Tomamae for work and I also need to attend a special event this weekend (you will find out what it is in the next article) that requires a considerable amount of money. Regardless, I'm looking forward to what this week is in store for me.
Here's my workload for today:
1st period - Janken Tournament @ 3-35 of Matsuda-sensei
3rd period - Communication 3 @ 3-46 of Matsuda-sensei
4th period - Festivals in the PH @ 2-2 of Hidaka-sensei
We had the English Club at 3:45 today and we talked about how we spent our Golden Week.
That afternoon, Guy visited us for dinner and also to show us his car which we were considering to buy. As expected, we had a great time chatting with him. He was also very patient and helpful in answering our inquiries about owning a car here in Japan. We even had a test drive around the block to see the performance of his car. Hopefully, he'd sell it at an affordable price.
Day 197: May 17, 2022
Tuesday - Rumoi
It's a warm morning today. It's my last day here in Rumoi High School this week as I will be going to my visit schools again starting tomorrow.
Here's my workload today:
3rd period - PH Transportation Part 2 @ 2-345 of Teruhiko-sensei
5th period - Laughter Therapy @ 3-35 of Matsuda-sensei
6th period - Janken Tournament @ 3-46 of Matsuda-sensei
That evening, my family and I went out for a walk. We went to Docomo to avail of the data plan for my wife but sadly, she wasn't able to get her own Japanese number due to some restrictions.

Bought takeout dinner at Mos Burger Rumoi |
From there, we stopped by Mos Burger for take-out dinner and then at Coop for some groceries before calling it a day.
Day 198: May 18, 2022
Wednesday - Haboro
Today is my 2nd time visiting Haboro High School for the school year 2022 - 2023. For this trip, I used my 2-day Moekko Free Ticket.
Here's my workload for today:
3rd period - Modal verbs @ 1st year of Kawakami-sensei
I left Haboro High School a little earlier than usual as I didn't have afternoon classes. Aside from that, I also needed to buy bus tickets and make reservations for my upcoming trip to Sapporo for Kutsumi-sensei's wedding feast.
That's why I boarded down at the Engan Bus Ticketing Office bus stop at Rumoi City instead of my stop at the Motokawacho bus stop. However, the unpleasant part of this side trip was that I had to walk for more than a kilometer under the scorching sun to reach home.
Day 199: May 19, 2022
Thursday - Embetsu
Good morning everyone! It's a foggy cold day today. It's also my fourth visit to Embetsu Agricultural High School for the school year 2022 - 2023. For this trip, I used my 2-day Moekko Free Ticket.
Here's my workload for today:
Sasaki-sensei's 1st-year class |
I explored the school grounds before going home. Finally saw the sheep up close. |
3rd period - Do... Does... Are... Is... @1st year of Sasaki-sensei
5th period - Present Continuous @2nd year of Sasaki-sensei
Day 200: May 20, 2022
Friday - Tomamae
Wow. Time flew so fast! It's my 200th day here in Rumoi Subprefecture as an ALT. I won't be surprised that it'll be my 1st year in a blink of an eye.
Going back... It's another foggy morning, today is my 4th time visiting Tomamae Commercial High School for the school year 2022-2023. For this visit, I used my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket.
Here's my workload for today:

That wraps up my work week. See you this weekend for more adventures.
