Japan Diaries 4: Week 36
Week 36: July 4 - 8, 2022
Day 245: July 4, 2022
Monday - Baseball Competition in Asahikawa
It's a special day for everyone in Rumoi High School today. We're going to Asahikawa City today to cheer our baseball team.
They will compete against Asahikawa East High School at Starukhin Baseball Stadium at 3 Chome, Hanasakicho, Asahikawa City.
It was a hot sunny day but each team did their best. Both schools' students and teachers did their best to cheer for their teams. We danced, cheered, and shouted with every free walk, strike, hit, and of course home run.
The game ended with a 7-4 win by Asahikawa East High School. It was a sad trip back home but since everyone did their best, it was easy for everyone to move on.
When I got back home, I got a big surprise. My wife did a test and found out that she was pregnant. Hence, at the end of the day, I was actually a winner.
Day 246: July 5, 2022
Tuesday - Rumoi
It's a cloudy morning in Rumoi City. Today, I will be reporting at Rumoi High School. Like last week, we have a shortened schedule today because of the preparations for the upcoming Rumoi High School school festival this weekend.
Here's my workload for today:
3rd period - Japanese Culture @ 2-345 of Sato-sensei
5th period - How Fast Can Humans Run @ 3-46 of Matsuda-sensei
At 3PM, the English Club had a photo on the rooftop of Rumoi High School. It was my first time being up there as the only door to it is always locked and only opened on special occasions.
After work, Matsuda-sensei accompanied me to Rumoi City Hall to apply for the Hanko Certificate.
That night, I attended our bi-weekly Rumoi English Chat Club. Our topic for today is "What is your plan this summer?"

After my last class, I was shocked to read in the online news that Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot twice and was in critical condition. Sadly, he passed away late in the afternoon. 😭 #RIPShinzoAbe
When I got back home, my family and I went to the Rumoi-Minami Post Office to submit the Japan Automobile Federation paperwork for the translation of my Philippine Driver's License.
Overall, in a way, I was affected by the tragic death of Former PM Abe as I was reminded of his close ties with our former president Rodrigo Duterte, and how his administration helped the Philippines.
