Cavite - Batangas Visita Iglesia

I know the province of Cavite like the back of my hand. Why? Because I live there. that's why it was no challenge when I was tasked with planning our annual Visita Iglesia. However, it would never be an adventure without challenges, so I added another province to the itinerary - Batangas.

2012 Cavite - Batangas Visita Iglesia
The goal for our Visita Iglesia is to visit as many old churches as possible in one day. The route that I plotted would take us from the City of  Bacoor heading southwards to Tagaytay City before exiting to the province of Batangas.

Dasmariñas Church - Dasmarinas City, Cavite

From our home, the first old church that we visited was the Immaculate Conception Parish of Dasmariñas or simply known as Dasmariñas Church. The church has an attractive facade. I found out that it was one of the most popular churches in Cavite for couples planning to get married.

Silang Church - Silang, Cavite

Our next stop was the old church in the town of Silang - Nuestra Señora De Candelaria Church. Popularly called Silang Church, the beauty of this church lies not on the outside but on the inside. The beautifully crafted retablo and images of saints are surely a must-see.

Lourdes Church - Tagaytay City, Cavite

After admiring the Silang Church, we drove to the most famous tourist destination in the province - Tagaytay City. The city might not have an old church to boast but the Lourdes Church in the city is a must-visit. The church is easily accessible since it's situated by the roadside. this church would be the last one we'll visit in Cavite this Visita Iglesia.

Since we're in Tagaytay City, we might as well enjoy the view while having lunch in one of those restaurants with the scenic view of Taal Volcano. Who would want to miss seeing the smallest volcano on the planet?

Lemery Church - Lemery, Batangas

After the hearty meal and an hour of rest, we hit the road again heading to the province of Batangas. We found ourselves in the town of Lemery. There we visited San Roque Parish Church or simply Lemery Church, known for the statue of San Roque and his dog which seems to be biting on a doughnut.

Taal Basilica - Taal, Batangas

Next, we headed to the historic town of Taal. I have visited the town before during the first El Pasubat Festival and I know that the town boasts the majestic Basilica de San Martin De Tours also known as Taal Basilica. The basilica is known as one of the largest in the country. We also had a chance to climb up to the top of the basilica and see the panoramic view of the town and Taal lake.

Our Lady of Caysasay Church - Taal, Batangas

The next church that we visited was the historic (and miraculous) Our Lady of Caysasay Church also in the town of Taal. The church is where the miraculous image of Nuestra
Señ
ora de Caysasay is found.

Lipa Cathedral - Lipa City, Batangas

After our visit to the town of Taal, we headed to the city of Lipa where we visited Lipa Cathedral. A visit to Lipa will not be complete if you'd miss this one out. The church would also be the last one on our list for our annual Visita Iglesia

Overall we visited 3 churches in the province of Cavite and 4 churches in the province of Batangas. (21 wishes for me!)
