Located in the port city of Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan, Kobe Port Tower (神戸ポートタワー Kōbe Pōto Tawā) stands as the symbol and most famous landmark of the city.

Kobe Port Tower History

Kobe Port Tower is a hyperboloid structure that has a height of 108 meters. The tower is famous for its red color and is usually visited by tourists in order for them to see the spectacular view of the bay and Kobe City. You can see this view from the observation deck of the tower which is located at a height of 90.28 meters. If you're planning to go up the viewing deck, you have to pay an entrance fee of Y600.

Checking out the tower

Kobe Port Tower e yokoso!

If the tower provides a beautiful panoramic view of its surroundings by day, the tower itself becomes equally picturesque at night. Being illuminated by probably hundreds of lights, Kobe Port Tower truly presents a unique beauty at night.

Can someone translate these for me?

Beautiful!

Kobe Port Tower is open to tourists every day from 9AM to 8PM. The hours are extended to 9PM every December but are reduced to 6PM during the winter season, particularly in the months of February.

Team Nicerio visits Kobe Port Tower

We visited Kobe Port Tower during the 24th day of our 2014-2015 Japan trip. We just had a brief stopover to the tower (just enough for some photoshoot and toilet break) before heading to Shin-Kobe Station. Sadly, we didn't head up the observation deck due to the limited time and budget but from where we are, we already had a good view of the surrounding area.

Kobe Port Tower Admission Fee:

Why visit the Kobe Port Tower?

Being the symbol of Kobe City, a visit to Kobe Port Tower should be in every list of tourists visiting Kobe City. Kobe Port Tower is the best place to view the city, port, and the surrounding mountains.

Getting to Kobe Port Tower:

From Kansai International Airport, ride an OKK Airport bus (Y1900) going directly to Sannomiya Station. The ride will take you about 65 minutes. From there you could walk going to Meriken Park where the Kobe Port Tower is located.
