Since the Age of Exploration, explorers always bring with them their trusted tools. These help them navigate, take notes, and of course survive their adventures. Centuries later, with the invention of smartphones and the internet, the tools of the modern-day explorers also improved.

For those who are not aware, Google has several Apps (applications) that fits the needs of these modern-day explorers. Here are 5 of the most useful Apps of Google for the modern-day explorer.

Google Maps

If you were asleep during your lesson about geography and map reading, don't fret. Google Maps is an easy to use app for your navigation needs. Just type down the name of your destination then click navigate and you'd already know the distance, estimated time of arrival, traffic conditions, and even alternate routes going to your desired destination. Oh and one last, it also talks like Dora's trusted map.


Google Translate
Similar to: A native guide/ translator


Centuries ago, some explorers kidnap natives to learn their language by using them to be translators to communicate with other tribes. Today, translating street signs, markers, and grocery items are just one click away. Google Translate is an app with more than 100 different available languages. Just type down the word and let it translate it to your preferred language. As regards to words that are non-Roman alphabets, you can use your smartphone's camera and watch the words change to your set language.

No need to bring your bulky diary and dozens of pens on your trip. You can simply write down your experiences on your Blogspot and publish it for the world to read. You can add photos and videos to it too. Aside from that, you can also earn from ads placed in your blog. Talk about a paying diary.

It's like communicating with everyone in the fleet simultaneously and vise versa.
