Singapore Chinatown details
Historically, Singapore Chinatown was the area designated for the Chinese immigrants under the Raffle's Plan during the Colonial Period of Singapore. Like its Indian community counterpart, the area also became overcrowded and the British government did little to solve the problem. It was only in the 1960s when the issue was addressed when the Housing Development Board finally relocated many of the Chinese residents to different parts of the country.

Today, Singapore Chinatown is visited by thousands of tourists and locals alike. They usually visit the place looking for cheap souvenirs and giveaways for their friends and families. Aside from that, Singapore Chinatown is also a perfect place to go on a food trip. Speaking of which, my family and I got to go on one during our 2017 Singapore-Malaysia tour. We had lunch in one of the restaurants near Chinatown Station. It was here that I got my first taste of bak kut teh.
Aside from trying out the food and buying souvenirs, I also managed to visit and see some of the well-known landmarks of Singapore Chinatown.
