Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat - Tokushima

Located at 65-63 Fukuike Tosadomariura, Naruto-Cho, Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture, the Uzushio Kizen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat also known as the Uzushido Steamship offers one of the best experiences in viewing the famous Naruto Whirlpools... up close that is.

Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat Details

If you're the type of adventurer that prefers to view danger from a distance, then this is not for you. It is highly suggested that you should just stay and view the famous Naruto Whirlpools from the observatory below Onaruto Bridge or the observatory at the Uzushio Rest Area.  The Uzushio Kizen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat allows the adventurous ones the chance to see the whirlpools as near as 10 feet away.

Boarding time!

Heading towards Onaruto Bridge... The water is relatively calm from this side.

Whirlpools started forming several meters away from the other side of the bridge

Gotta enjoy the ride!

Check out that lighthouse

For those who would be trying out the sightseeing boat, expect to be rocked by currents throughout the tour. During the spring tide, the currents could sometimes reach up to 20 kilometers per hour. However, there is nothing to fear as the boat is equipped with engines that are powerful enough to "pull" you out of "dizzying" situations and "events that sucks".

Another photo of the whirlpool... I thought a man was sucked by it.

Before trying it out, keep in mind the following first:

Everybody's happy with their experience.

My family and I got the chance to ride the Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing boat during our road trip to Awajishima and Tokushima Prefecture on our 10th day in Japan. Riding the sightseeing boat made our Naruto Whirlpool viewing more memorable as admittedly it could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for us and that chance that we'd get to try it again may be slim. Overall, I highly suggest that you grab the opportunity if you have the opportunity and capability to ride the sightseeing boats. Believe me, it's one for the books.

Why ride the Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat?

Naruto Whirlpools is something one should never miss when visiting Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture. Although it can be viewed for free from afar, it is highly recommended that you see it up close. Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat gives you the opportunity to see the Naruto Whirlpools up close in the relative safety of its high-speed boats.

Getting to Uzushio Kisen High-Speed Whirlpool Sightseeing Boat:

From Sannomiya Station in Kobe City in Hyogo Prefecture, ride the JR train of the Tokaido-Sanyo Line going to Maiko Station.

The Uzushio Kisen office

From there, walk for about 3 minutes going to Kosokumaiko Bus Stop, and ride the Awa Express highway bus going to Naruto Koenguchi. From there walk for about 20 minutes going to the Uzushio Kisen Office seen below to buy a ticket for your sightseeing tour.
