Universal Studios Japan Revisited 2018 - Osaka

Located at Konohana-ku, Osaka City in Osaka Prefecture, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is one of the four Universal Studios theme parks in the world. It is owned and operated by USJ Co. Ltd with a license from NBC Universal.

Universal Studios Japan Details

Universal Studios Japan is one of the most famous and most visited theme parks in Japan. It opened on March 31, 2001, which coincidentally happened to be during my 14th birthday (Do the math and you'd know my age already).

My family and I first visited Universal Studios Japan during the 5th and 6th day of our 2014-2015 Japan adventure (You can click the links to read more about our first visit to the USJ).  Thankfully, we got to revisit it again during the 13th day of our 2018 Japan Trip. However, unlike last time we only had one day to explore and enjoy it and we also did not have the Universal Express Pass which prioritizes us in the theme park rides.

Here's what we tried out during our latest visit:

Jaws - The Ride

Jurassic Park: The Flying Dinosaur

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem (NEW)

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman The Ride

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

Hello Kitty's Cupcake Dream

The Flying Snoopy

Moppy's Balloon Trip

Elmo's Little Drive

Elmo's Imagination Playground

T2 Terminator 2 2D

Sadly, it drizzled that night. Hence, the Special Night Spectacle Parade was canceled. They had a meet and greet instead. We have observed that there were only a few changes since our last visit. A new attraction (Minion Park) was added which replaced the Back to the Future ride before. We also managed to try out some rides which we were not able to try out last time like the T2 Terminator 2 2D, Elmo's Little Drive, and Moppy's Balloon Trip.

Universal Studios Japan Admission Fee:

Universal Studios Japan's current rates for 1Day Studio Passes are 7,900 yen for adults; 5,400 yen for children; and, 7,100 yen for senior citizens.

Why visit Universal Studios Japan?

Universal Studios Japan never fails to astonish kids and kids at heart. No wonder why some people would say that a trip to Osaka won't be complete without visiting USJ (I partially agree with them). It's a perfect whole day activity when you are in Osaka, Japan.

Getting to Universal Studios Japan:

From Kansai International Airport (KIX) ride a JR rapid to Nishikujo Station then transfer to the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal City Station. The whole travel is estimated to last 70 - 75 minutes.

  8. At a mere 31 (almost 32) you are still a youngster. It is interesting to see how much is the same and yet different between the park here and the one in Singapore.
