Watching the Takayama Festival in the Media room |
The Takayama Matsuri Yatai Kaikan also known in English as the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall houses four of the eleven of the festival. The floats on display are changed three times a year. In addition, some scenes of the parade are reproduced to give visitors the festival feels. There is also a media room where visitors could watch a very informative documentary video about the Takayama Festival.

Inside the Sakurayama Nikkokan next door |
Just a heads up, there is an admission fee of 900 Yen for adults and 450 for children. This fee includes entrance to the Sakurayama Nikkokan next door. My family and I got to visit Takayama Matsuri Yatai Kaikan during our 16th day in Japan. Since we visited Takayama City in June, this was the closest activity that we could do to experience the famous Takayama Festival. During our visit, we were accompanied by our Japanese family. They made the visit more meaningful and educational as they patiently answered our questions about the exhibits.
