Japan Diaries 2: Day 19
Day 19 June 4, 2018
Sennan Marble Beach
Ohayo! We're back in Kumatori in Osaka Prefecture after our 4-day Gifu-Nagano Road Trip with our Japanese family.
We decided to stay home the whole morning to rest and wash our clothes. My wife and I also made the "most-requested" buko pandan dessert.
What a beautiful day! |
Buko pandan |
We decided to stay home the whole morning to rest and wash our clothes. My wife and I also made the "most-requested" buko pandan dessert.
AEON Mall in Sennan |
Time to go shop in AEON Mall |
After three years, we're back to this store |
It's really awesome to bond with our Japanese family over coffee |
That afternoon, we drove to AEON Mall in Sennan to have their pet dog Yomogi groomed. AEON Mall is memorable to us as it was the first mall that we have visited during our first travel to Japan four years ago. We took the opportunity to revisit, drink coffee, and have a great chat in Aeon Mall Starbucks with our Japanese family just like before.
Sennan Marble Beach |
Loving the beach |
We left the mall at around 4PM and drove to the nearby Sennan Marble Beach to stroll around and enjoy the view of Osaka Bay and the beautiful sunset that made the beach famous for couples out on a date.
Shopping for pasalubong in Supercenter Trial Osaka |
We didn't stay long though as Mr. Toshi wanted to bring us to Supercenter Trial (a discount mall) in Izumisano so that we could already buy some "pasalubong" for our family back home. There were plenty of discounted products to choose from so we didn't miss the chance to buy ingredients for some Japanese dishes that we fancied and we think can be cooked back home.
The Star Gate Hotel as seen from the parking lot of Supercenter Trial |
That night, Mr. Toshi cooked for us. We also partook in the buko pandan dessert that my wife made. I'm proud to share that it was such a hit that we already got patrons if we start a buko pandan business here. Before calling it a day, I made sure to take a dip at Mr. Toshi's hot tub. It sure did make me miss our onsen dips during our previous road trip.
It's hard to choose from the dozens of different products to buy as pasalubong |
Here are some affordable products worth buying... |
Here are our favorite products... |
Saw these watermelons... Whew! they are very expensive. |
To sum it up, today we got a chance to do the 4Rs. What's that you ask?
What a perfect day ender... |
Well for half the day we managed to get our well-deserved REST. Then we visited AEON Mall which made us REMEMBER and REMINISCE our first visit to Japan 4 years ago. Lastly, we got to RECIPROCATE for the great experiences with our Japanese family by making them their requested dishes and serving them in any possible way.
Overall, with day 19 coming to a close we suddenly got hit with the reality that we'd soon be going back to our country...

ReplyDeleteYou would. =) I once dream that way too.
DeleteThat marble beach is amazing. I know you took a car but I wonder if you can take public transportation to there. And also, watermelon is generally expensive in the supermarkets. But, since you are going to Nagano, make sure to visit Matsumoto as they are famous for watermelons. And visit the JA store as the watermelons are better priced.
ReplyDeleteThere is a public transpo going there. You'd see that in a separate article about Sennan Marble Beach.
DeleteReally! I would surely include Matsumoto to my list of places to visit. =)

ReplyDeleteHahaha No they are not. Japanese watermelons are really expensive specially the box shaped one.
DeleteThat buko pandan dessert looked lovely. I've never heard of it, could you tell me what it is? And that photo of the sunset is brilliant, I'd love to have a view like that.
ReplyDeleteThe word buko is a Filipino name for coconut while pandan is a plant used for flavoring in Southeast Asian countries. =) You should try it out.
