Dancalan Beach - Sorsogon

Located in barangay Dancalan, Bulusan, in the province of Sorsogon, Dancalan Beach is a scenic crescent-shape near-white sand beach situated near the highway.

Dancalan Beach Details

The town of Bulusan is famously known for the scenic Bulusan Lake and the majestic Bulusan Volcano but during my recent visit, I discovered that there's more to the town than that. Bulusan is actually blessed with a beautiful shoreline -the most famous of which is Dancalan Beach

Are you ready for your next adventure?

Look at that crystalline waters

...and that powdery white sand

Gotta love the view!

Dancalan Beach is a public beach that is the usual go-to destination for locals during the weekends and during summer. Aside from its easy accessibility, the entrance fee is also very affordable.

Dancalan Beach Entrance Fee:

Beachgoers need to only pay P10 for a full day's worth of stay. Visitors may opt to rent an open-air kubo (nipa hut) for just P100.

Open cottages rental = P100

There are some stalls where you can buy food...

We stayed under the shade of the tree and borrowed some chairs

If staying in a kubo (nipa hut) is not your thing, then bring a tent with you and pitch it on the beach. Then again, if you don't have a tent, bring a blanket instead and spread it under the shade of one of the Talisay trees. Likewise, you can also save if you bring your own food although there are several stores along Dancalan Beach.

Team Nicerio at Dancalan Beach:

Look, dad! beautiful shells!

What I like about Dancalan Beach is its simplistic appeal. The beach is not yet over-commercialized like many of the white sand beaches in the country. It still retains that rustic vibe which is perfect for those who try to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. For those with children, it's good to know that the waters are shallow (1-2 feet deep) from the shoreline up to about 40-50 meters away.

Check out the crowd

Sun is about to set, time to leave!

I would have given this beach a 5/5 rating if not for the loud karaoke systems that incessantly barrage you with mostly unpleasant if not out of tune songs. I do hope that the management could soundproof the karaoke area.

Team Nicerio visits Dancalan Beach

Overall, our visit to Dancalan Beach last May was one of the highlights of our 2019 Bicol Trip. Not only was it my first time to visit the province of Sorsogon, but it also gave me a chance to reconnect once again with Mother Nature after months of working in the concrete forest of Manila.

Why visit Dancalan Beach?

Dancalan Beach is a must-visit destination in Sorsogon. It is one of the few white sand beaches of the province. Aside from that entrance to the beach is very affordable so there's no point to include it in your itinerary when you visit Sorsogon.

Getting to Dancalan Beach:

From Cubao, ride a Philtranco / Penafrancia Bus to Gubat, Sorsogon. Fare is around P1000 -P1500. Once you arrive at Gubat town proper, ride a jeepney to Bulusan town proper. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Dancalan Beach Resort which is just less than a kilometer before you reach the town proper.
