Crystal Cave - Albay
Located in Solong Eco-Park, Barangay Solong, Camalig in the province of Albay, Crystal Cave is one of the caves in the province and also a must-visit destination inside Solong Eco-Park.
Although Crystal Cave is a part of Solong Eco-Park, I think it deserves its own spotlight. I already visited Crystal Cave with my family during our 2019 Bicol Road Trip but we were unable to go deep inside the cave due to restrictions for kids. Regardless, my daughter and I revisited it during the 3rd day of our 2021 Bicol Road Trip. This time, we were accompanied by my sister Aya and brother Patrick.
Also called Solong Cave, Crystal Cave's depth is yet to be fully explored and measured. So far, the explorable area in the cave is about 250 meters for adult visitors. Children, on the other hand, are allowed to only explore 50 meters inside and are required to be accompanied by an adult.
Crystal Cave was given its name due to the fact that it was mined for different crystals back in the day until its closure. Today, the owners of Solong Eco-Park gave the cave a new life. Instead of mining it even more and destroying it in the process, they decided to make it an eco-tourism destination.
During our recent visit, the management already installed safety ropes inside the cave where there are sudden drops that tourists might fall into. The tour guides are also equipped with a much more powerful flashlight.

Overall, Crystal Cave is a must-visit part of Solong Eco-Park. Make sure that you include it in your plan. Heads up, you need to hike up a hill and then go down the other side to reach Crystal Cave.

Why visit Crystal Cave?
Although Crystal Cave is a part of Solong Eco-Park, I think it deserves its own spotlight. The cave despite being mined before still retains most of its stalactite and stalagmite formations. The guides in Solong Eco-Park are also very highly capable so you won't need to worry about your safety. Regardless, there is nothing wrong with being very careful when inside the cave.
