Japan Diaries 4: Week 2


Week 2: November 8-12, 2021

Day 7: November 8, 2021 

Monday - Rumoi 

It's formally my first Monday as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at Rumoi High School. I was invited to observe several classes today which would also be observed by the Hokkaido Board of Education.

2nd period - Class observation @ 3-2 of Kutsumi-sensei
3rd period - Class observation @ 2-56 of Shiko-sensei
5th period - Jiko shokai class @ 3-12 of Kutsumi-sensei
English Club - Getting to know each other and school tour activity

Day 8: November 9, 2021

Tuesday - Rumoi 

It's another day at Rumoi High School. Today is the first time that I have 4 classes in one day. It was also the first time that I'd be in Sato-sensei's class.

2nd period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-4 of Motoyama-sensei
3rd period - Student introduction activity @ 202 of Motoyama-sensei
6th period - Jiko shokai class @ 3-2 of Kutsumi-sensei

Day 9: November 10, 2021

Wednesday - Rumoi

It's getting colder by the day. Time to wear thicker clothing

It's my third day here at Rumoi High School this week. Today is the first time that I've worked with Shiko-sensei and Hidaka-sensei.

Here's my workload for the day:

1st period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-1 of Motoyama-sensei
3rd period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-34 of Shiko-sensei
4th period - Jiko shokai class @ 1-4 of Hidaka-sensei

Day 10: November 11, 2021

Thursday - Rumoi

Walking to school along with Nishi 5 Go dori

The leaves of the trees along Nishi 5 Go dori are all yellow now and are slowly falling one by one. In a way, I feel that autumn is almost over and winter is upon us. In a way, I'm excited about my first winter here in Rumoi City but at the same time very anxious. Anyway, today is my 4th day at Rumoi High School.

Day 11: November 12, 2021

Friday - Rumoi

Last day here in Rumoi High School for this week. It's getting colder too!

Here's my workload for the day:

2nd period - Continuation of Student Introduction Activity @ 202 of Motoyama-sensei
4th period - Speaking Test @ 2-1 of Motoyama-sensei

Dinner for today - Different flavors of onigiri

That sums up my 2nd week as an ALT here in Rumoi City in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. All in all, I had 13 contact classes, 2 observation classes, and I club activity this week. I'm happy to share that each of these turned out well. Looking forward to the weekend!

Casa Hacienda de Tejeros - Cavite

Located in Rosario in the province of Cavite, Casa Hacienda de Tejeros is famously known as the location of the historic Tejeros Convention of 1897. Casa Hacienda de Tejeros Casa Hacienda de Tejeros history Casa Hacienda de Tejeros was originally built in the 17th century. The hacienda and its surrounding lands were formerly owned by the Augustinian Recollects. The estate was once the largest and grandest estate in the country. It once covered as much as 1,125 hectares with the casa occupying 4 hectares of it. Casa Hacienda de Tejeros - Rosario, Cavite The NHI Marker of the Casa Hacienda de Tejeros The name tejeros came from the Spanish name tejer , which means "to weave". It's due to the fact that the weaving industry is one of the major industries of the municipality of Rosario. Going back to its historical importance, Casa Hacienda de Tejeros played an important role in 1897 when it hosted the assembly that the new leaders of the revolution were elected.

Bonifacio Shrine in Indang - Cavite

Located in Barangay Limbon, Indang in the province of Cavite, the Bonifacio Shrine of Indang is one of the historical landmarks dedicated to the Father of the Philippine Revolution -Andres Bonifacio.  Bonifacio Shrine of Indang Bonifacio Shrine in Indang History Bonifacio Shrine in Indang marks the location of the nipa hut where Andres Bonifacio was seized and captured by the soldiers of his political rival and fellow revolutionary Emilio Aguinaldo in 1897. Agusan Del Sur: Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center

Found in Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan in the province of Agusan Del Sur, Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center became famous for its world known centerpiece exhibit. Bunawan arc That exhibit is named Lolong , the world's longest salt water crocodile ever caught. Lolong was captured in Bunawan Creek, a part of the vast Agusan Marsh on September 3, 2011. Lolong In November of the same year, an Australian crocodile expert from the National geographic measured Lolong and confirmed that the crocodile was indeed the longest ever caught. the enormous Lolong measured 20 feet and 24 inches from snout to tail beating the Australian croc named Cassius which formerly holds the said title. Daisetsuzan National Park - Hokkaido

Daisetsuzan National Park ( 大雪山国立公園 ) spans 2,267 square kilometers and encompasses 16 peaks, offering diverse trails, abundant wildlife, and alpine flora. This is the largest national park in Hokkaido, Japan . This vast park covers parts of Kitami City, Asahikawa City, Furano City, and the towns of Higashikawa, Kamifurano, Minamifurano, and Kamishihoro.
