Japan Diaries 4: Week 32
Week 32: June 6 - 10, 2022
Day 217: June 6, 2022
Monday - Rumoi
Another week, another opportunity. Today, I'm back at my main school - Rumoi High School.
Here's my workload for today:
1st period - Wild Racoon Dog in Tokyo Intro @ 3 -35 of Matsuda-sensei
3rd period - Wild Racoon Dog in Tokyo Intro @ 3-46 of Matsuda-sensei
5th period - Listening Activity @ 3-11 of Matsuda-sensei
For these classes, Matsuda-sensei allowed me to be the lead teacher. It wasn't as easy as I imagined but it was totally worth the experience.
After classes, we had a planning activity for our Rumoi High School English Club.
That night my wife and I went on a walk and ended up at COOP just in time for the Closing Time Sale. Aside from the usual cooked food and bread that we buy during this time, I also bought two new KitKat Flavors to try out and add to my list of KitKat flavors that I tried in Japan.

Wednesday - Obira
Good morning everyone! Today will be my first time at Obira High School for Special Needs. Since the first period was still at 9AM, I rode the 6:44AM Engan Bus to the Onishika Minato-machi 1-ku bus stop. Since this is the nearest visit school among all my visit schools, I got to the bus stop at around 7:30AM which was very early. The fare was about 680 yen.

Uphill walk to Obira Special Needs School |
Obira High School for Special Needs was a bit of a walk from the bus stop. It was about 900 meters away and most of the way was uphill. I did a bit of a side trip to Onishika Itsukushima Shrine along the way to offer respect. From there, the school was about a 10-minute uphill walk from where I was.
I was welcomed by Minoguchi-sensei who introduced me to the Kouchou-sensei. Since it was my first time here, I did my Jiko Shokai in front of everyone including most of my classes. Okubo sensei spent a lot of time with me and talked to me about the school and how it is different from regular high schools.
Here's my workload for today:
1st period - Class observation
2nd period - Jiko shokai @ 2nd year of Okubo-sensei
3rd period - Bingo @ 3rd year of Saito-sensei
4th period - Class observation

There was still sunlight when I got back home so my family and I didn't waste the opportunity to stroll around the Rumoi River pathway.
