Japan Diaries 4: Week 38
Week 38: July 18-22, 2022
Day 259: July 18, 2022
Monday - Marine Day in Rumoi
Good morning everyone! It's Umi no Hi or Marine Day today here in Japan. It's a non-working holiday. Aside from that, it is also the last day of the Rumoi Festival.
It's the last day of the Rumoi Festival |
Team Nicerio went to revisit the Rumoi Festival once again |
We spent almost an hour looking for something that we wanted to eat. |
For today's activities, my family and I headed to the Kaiuncho District of Rumoi City to check out the different stalls that line up the street and to try out some of the festival food rarely seen in the city.
We bought the Doraemon-shaped taiyaki, strawberry crepe, and kakigori. We didn't stay long as I had another commitment in the afternoon so we decided to return home but of course, we did a quick grocery at COOP first.
When we got home, we dozed off for a bit until my alarm buzzed off at 4:30PM. It was just enough for me to prepare for my afternoon bonding with my friend and Tomamae JTE Hasegawa-sensei.

Another bonding experience with Hasegawa-sensei |
I ordered butadon ... |
... and some ice cream for dessert |
Next stop - Geo Rumoi |
Inside Geo Rumoi |
First, we went to Koraikan to eat an early dinner. From there, we headed to Geo Rumoi where Hasegawa sensei showed me the different films that he usually rents and also toured me around the DVD and game rental facility.
As for our last destination for the day, we drove to Omachi District to visit Nozomihiroshi Park. The park is characterized by the distinct red lighthouse that seems to watch over the Port of Rumoi. Speaking of which this park has probably one of the best views of the Port of Rumoi and the hills north of the city.
We stayed in Nozomihiroshi Park for about an hour talking about various things while also watching the sunset.
Just before it got dark, Hasegawa sensei drove me home. My day didn't end there though because before wrapping up the day, my wife and I watched a few episodes of Detective Conan like what we usually do in the Philippines.

Hasegawa Sensei is really kind and generous. You are lucky.
ReplyDeleteHe was. He retired last year though.
