Teshio Onsen Yubae details
According to the official website of Teshio Onsen Yubae, the hot spring has been known since ancient times, and it was officially designated as a hot spring in 1924. As for the establishment of the Teshio Onsen Yubae resort itself, I was still looking for a specific date for when it was built.

However, based on records, it appears that the Teshio Onsen Yubae's hotel was extensively renovated in April 2018. It was transformed into a modern hotel to promote tourism in Teshio. It currently offers single, double, twin, and Japanese-style guest rooms that can accommodate various visitors, from business travelers to tourists. In addition, the hotel now has a conference room for small group meetings and a multipurpose space that can hold an event for many people.

One of the highlights of the newly renovated hotel is its guest lounge. It's open 24 hours a day and is one of the best places in the hotel to view the sunset over the Sea of Japan. It is also a popular place for visitors who often stay after taking a dip in the onsen.

On the subject of onsen. Teshio Onsen Yubae has both Japanese and Western hot springs. For those with little children, there is also a separate family bath. The good thing about this place is that you can try out the onsen without reservation or without booking a room. You can read about the rates below.

What sets Teshio Onsen Yubae's hot spring apart from the other hot springs in the prefecture is its rare dark brown hot spring with an overpowering ammonia scent. However, it is said that it can make one’s skin beautiful and youthful looking. Now it answers why most of the locals in Teshio look younger.
Team Nicerio visits Teshio Onsen Yubae
My family and I visited the Teshio History Museum for the first time last August 12, 2022, which was my 41st week here in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. It was one of the destinations that we visited on the 1st day of our 5-day Drive Up North Road Trip. Although we didn't stay in the hotel as we were camping at the nearby Kagaminuma Seaside Park, we could try its famed onsen. To be honest with you, my wife and I had mixed reactions to our onsen experience. One of us was not that pleased with the strong sulfuric smell of the onsen but one of us enjoyed it a lot. Regardless, Teshio Onsen Yubae's onsen is something that you should try when you are in town.

The Japanese onsen culture is something that I really wanted to experience when I visit Japan in the future.
ReplyDeletePlease try it when you visit Japan. It's going to be very awkward at first but it's definitely fun.
