Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite or Maruseppu Ikoinomori Camping Ground (丸瀬布いこいの森キャンプ場) is a vast campsite with numerous facilities. It is located at 80 Maruseppukamimurii in the town of Engaru in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite is a nature lover's dream, brimming with greenery and natural beauty. In addition to the forest railway steam locomotive "Amemiya No. 21" and a local museum, the park also boasts a wide range of playground equipment, making it the perfect spot for family fun.

If you're planning to stay overnight, the camping ground offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your needs. For large groups, there are 27 bungalows available that can accommodate between 4 to 6 people. These bungalows come equipped with terraces and some even sit on stilts, giving you a unique camping experience.

Before pitching your tent, go to the Center House first to pay the fees

For those in vehicles, the camping ground also offers Auto Sites that feature grassy plots, electricity, and space to park your RV or large vehicle. If you're looking for a more traditional camping experience, free sites are also available. These spacious sites provide ample room to set up your tent and tarp.

After paying the fees, they will give you a camping permit

Before setting up camp, don't forget to check out the Center House. Here, you can check in and out, rent camping equipment, and take advantage of on-site facilities like coin laundry.

The camping ground also offers plenty of activities for all ages. Kids will love playground equipment like the Triple Fluffy Dome and battery cars, while older adventurers can test their skills on the go-kart track or tennis court. For those looking for a more leisurely activity, bikes, and roller skates are also available for rent.

My family and I camped at Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite during the first day of our 3-day Respect for the Aged Holiday Road Trip last September 17 – 19, 2022. It was my 320th day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. So far, Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite is one of the best camping spots we have camped in Hokkaido. You need to pay some fees before pitching a tent at Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite. However, keep in mind that you need reservations during the camping season (April – August) as it tends to be jam-packed with campers.

Center House Hours: The Center House is open from 9 AM to 5 PM. 

Late Arrival Instructions: If your arrival at the campsite is delayed, please contact the Ikoinomori Local Museum at 0158-47-2466 between 9 AM and 4:30 PM. Informing us of your late arrival will help us ensure your reservation is held, and your camping spot is secured.

Reservation Cancellation Policy: If you don’t contact us about your delayed arrival, your reservation might be canceled. To avoid any inconvenience, please make sure to inform us in advance.

Getting to Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite:

 

 The best way to reach Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite is by private vehicle. However, if you plan to commute, you can follow this one.

From Asahikawa Station, ride the Sapporo/Asahikawa – Engaru bus of the Dohoku Bus Company and board down at the Maruseppu bus stop.

Walk for about 3 minutes to the Maruseppu JR Station and wait for the Maruseppu Onsen Maure Sanso bus operated by the Engaru Town Community Bus. Board down at the Ikoinomori bus stop. The Maruseppu Recreation Forest Campsite is about 100 meters away.

Agusan Del Sur: Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center

Found in Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan in the province of Agusan Del Sur, Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center became famous for its world known centerpiece exhibit. Bunawan arc That exhibit is named Lolong , the world's longest salt water crocodile ever caught. Lolong was captured in Bunawan Creek, a part of the vast Agusan Marsh on September 3, 2011.
