Yubetsu (湧別町) is a town in the Okhotsk Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The town's name is derived from the Yubetsu River which flows through the town. The river’s name was derived from the Ainu ipe-ot-i, which means fish, abundance, and place.
For those planning to visit the town of Yubetsu to check what it has to offer, here are the 10 Things to Do in Yubetsu:

1. Take a picture of the manhole cover of Yubetsu. So far, I have seen 1 unique manhole cover. It is commonly seen around town.

2. Visit the Kamiyubetsu Shrine (上湧別神社). It was the main shrine of the former town of Kamiyubetsu before it merged with the town of Yubetsu. You can pay your respects and offer prayers here any time of the day. Don’t forget to avail of the shrine’s goshuin if you collect them.

6. Take a dip and relax at the onsen of Tulip no Yu (チューリップの湯). The day trip bath costs only 500 yen. It is conveniently located in Roadside Station Kamiyubetsu-onsen Tulip.

7. Head to Roadside Station Ai-Land (道の駅 愛ランド湧別). This is another perfect place to rest from a long drive along the coast of eastern Hokkaido. You can also buy souvenirs here and eat at Restaurant Saiko (レストラン彩湖). If you’re collecting roadside station stamps for the Hokkaido Stamp Rally, then this place is a must-visit.

8. Visit the Municipal Folk Museum Furusatokan JRY (町立郷土博物館 ふるさと館JRY) to learn about the history of the Tondenhei settlers who founded the town. There are also plenty of Show-era displays here that would show visitors life in the past.

10. Visit Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park (かみゆうべつチューリップ公園) during the Kamiyubetsu Tulip Festival held from May 1st to early June. You would surely be amazed at the picturesque sea of tulips.
