With a capacity to accommodate around 60-70 tents, the campsite provides ample space for campers of various group sizes. While the campsite offers stunning views of Abashiri Lake, it is worth noting that the proximity to a major thoroughfare may result in some noise from passing vehicles. Additionally, some parts of the campsite are not well-lit, so you need to bring your own flashlight if you need to walk around the camp at night.

For those seeking relaxation, the nearest day-trip onsen can be found at Hotel Abashirikoso, located approximately 1.6 kilometers away. Another option, Onsen Inn Motoyoshi, offers a smaller onsen experience, although it is important to note that it has limited capacity and bathers may be turned away if it reaches its maximum occupancy.
Team Nicerio camps at Yobitoura Camping Ground
During our memorable September 17-19 Road Trip, my family and I had the opportunity to camp at Yobitoura Camping Ground on September 18, 2022. It was my 321st day in Japan as an ALT under the esteemed JET Programme. We stayed there until September 19, 2022, which was my 322nd day in the country. Upon our arrival, heavy rain threatened to spoil our plans, prompting us to consider seeking shelter in a nearby hotel. However, due to the unavailability of rooms in Abashiri City and its surroundings, we were left with no choice but to proceed with camping. As luck would have it, the rain eventually subsided to a drizzle, allowing us to successfully set up our tent and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.
Overall, our experience at Yobitoura Camping Ground was highly enjoyable, despite the initial uncertainty caused by the weather. The stunning natural surroundings, convenient facilities, and serenity of the campsite made it a memorable stop on our road trip adventure.
