Wassamu (和寒町) is a town in the Kamikawa Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. Wassamu got its name from the Ainu word watsam which means “the place where elm trees used to grow”.

For those planning to visit the town of Wassamu to check what it has to offer, here are the 10 Things to Do in Wassamu:

Wassamu Station

3. If you’re using public transportation, don’t forget to visit one of the main entryways to the town – Wassamu Station (和寒駅). It doesn’t have much but it’s a great place to hang out if you are an avid fan of trains. You have to chance to see the KiHa 261 series that runs once a day from Asahikawa City to Wakkanai City.
