Mikasayama Natural Park Children’s World (三笠山自然公園こどもの国) is a vast park that doubles as a mini-amusement park in the town of Wassamu. It is located at Mikasa in the town of Wassamu in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

While the park does operate on a pay-per-ride basis, it's worth mentioning that during the summer months, it tends to draw a large number of families, resulting in occasional crowding. However, this should not hinder the overall enjoyment of the experience.

During our road trip on September 25, 2022, my family and I were fortunate enough to experience Mikasayama Natural Park Children's World for the first time. As an Assistant Language Teacher participating in the esteemed JET Programme, this marked my 328th day in Japan. It was the perfect ending to our trip, and we were thoroughly impressed by the park's offerings and attractions. Riding the go-karts and leisurely strolling through the park provided endless enjoyment for all of us.

It’s FREE to enter Mikasayama Natural Park Children’s World. However, you need to pay for each ride you wish to try. Here’s the ride and the corresponding fees:

Why visit Mikasayama Natural Park Children’s World?
This place is a perfect place to bring your kids. It might not be as big and colorful as the famed theme parks in Honshu but this small amusement park would surely be a great weekend destination for the kids. My daughter and I loved the Go-kart and I highly recommend it.
Getting to Mikasayama Natural Park Children’s World
Starting from Asahikawa Station, head towards the front section of the station to reach the bus docks. Locate bus stop #8 (8番のりば) and board the 2-Nayoro Line Ordinary (2-名寄線普通) operated by Dohoku Bus Company.
Disembark at Line 19 (Wasamu Town) 19線(和寒町) bus stop. From there, take a leisurely 10 to 15-minute stroll uphill to reach Mikasayama Natural Park Children's World.
Travel time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Fare: 770 yen
