Namporo, also Nanporo (南幌町) is a town in the Sorachi Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The place gets its name, "poromoi," from the Ainu language meaning "a place where the water curves gently." This refers to the picturesque bend in the Ishikari River. Originally written in kanji as "Horomui," the name was changed to "Namporo" during the town system's establishment. This alteration was necessary to avoid confusion with a similarly named location in present-day Iwamizawa City.

For those planning to visit the town of Namporo to check what it has to offer, here are the 10 Things to Do in Namporo:

1.  Take a picture of the manhole cover of Namporo. So far, I have seen 1 unique manhole cover. It is commonly seen around the town.

2. Visit the Namporo Shrine (南幌神社). It’s the main shrine of the town of Namporo. You can pay your respects and offer prayers here any time of the day. Don’t forget to avail of the shrine’s goshuin if you collect them. Aside from the Namporo Shrine goshuin, you can also get the goshuin of Tsunoda Shrine in the town of Kuriyama here.

3. Visit Bodaiji (菩提寺). It’s one of, if not, the largest Buddhist temple in town. You can also pay your respects and offer prayers here.

4.  Check out the Former Horomuka Station (旧 幌向駅逓所). It is one of the oldest buildings in town. Sadly, you won’t be able to go inside.

5. Stroll around and enjoy the fresh air at Namporo Water Park (なんぽろ親水公園). You can also bring your pets with you. Just don’t forget to clean up after them.

6.  Pitch a tent and stay overnight at Mieko Park Camping Ground (三重湖公園 キャンプ場). You can pitch your tent at the banks of Mieko Lake where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset.

7. Take a dip at the onsen of Namporo Onsen Heart & Heart (なんぽろ温泉ハート&ハート). You may choose the day trip option of staying overnight.

8.  Try the famed ice cream of Ice Carol (アイスキャロル). This ice cream is located inside Namporo Water Park near the parking area. They offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors worth trying.

9. Race with friends at Namporo Riverside Kartland (南幌リバーサイドカートランド). There are rental karts available. Heads up though. The race track is also used by mini-bikes so better call in advance to ask about the site's availability.

10. Head up the Fukino Tower (ふきの塔) and enjoy the panoramic view of Namporo Water Park and also of the western side of Namporo. It is one of the tallest infrastructure in the town.

Located at the poblacion of Calaca in the province of Batangas, Calaca Church is one of the Spanish colonial era churches of the province. Calaca Church -  St. Raphael the Archangel Parish Church Calaca Church History Also known as St. Raphael the Archangel Parish Church , Calaca Church was said to be founded in 1836 which was a year after the establishment of the town of Calaca. The church was built from the collective sacrifices and efforts of the townspeople of the town. It was said that the men and women of Calaca gathered the materials needed to build the church from the town of Balayan. Using their bancas or small riverboats, they hauled the sand, stone, wood, adobe, and limestone and brought them to Calaca via the Pansipit River.
