Naganuma Roadside Station, also known as Roadside Station Maoi no Oka Park, is a unique and picturesque building that resembles a silo. Situated at the intersection of National Route 274 (Ishikatsu Jukai Road) and National Route 337, it is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive from New Chitose Airport and a 50-minute drive from Sapporo.

The centerpiece of Naganuma Roadside Station is the impressive silo-like brick building, attracting visitors to stop by and admire its beauty amidst a scenic drive through rice fields and ranches. Naganuma Roadside Station was officially registered as a roadside station on August 5, 1996, and was given the registration number 37. Since then, it has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike, offering a range of facilities and attractions worth exploring. The roadside station has 176 parking spots for regular cars and 14 parking spots for large vehicles.

Team Nicerio visits Naganuma Roadside Station
My family and I first visited Naganuma Roadside Station last October 8, 2022, during our “October 8-10” Road Trip. It was my 341st day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. I include Naganuma Roadside Station in our itinerary as my daughter and I collect roadside station stamps. During our visit, my daughter and I enjoyed the delectable creampuff and we were also able to buy some Naganuma-themed merchandise and souvenirs. As for my wife, she was able to buy some vegetables from the Farmer’s Market.

It’s FREE to enter, park, and explore Naganuma Roadside Station grounds. However, you should bring cash as there are plenty of things to buy and food to eat at the roadside station.
