In June 1912, Naganuma Shrine was moved to its present location. It was established to honor the branch spirit of Kanpei Taisha Sapporo Shrine. Naganuma Shrine received official permission to be established as a village shrine in July 1920. This new designation ensured that it had the authority to provide important services to its community. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the village's inception, construction of the main shrine began in 1939. Inspired by the original Karafuto Shrine design by the Hokkaido Government Agency, the majestic Shinmei-zukuri shrine building was completed in 1945. This architectural gem became the focal point of the shrine, radiating a sense of grandeur and sacredness.
