Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space - Hokkaido

Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space (鳩が丘記念緑地) or simply Hatagaoka Memorial Park is a city park in the heart of Iwamizawa City. It is located at 1 Chome-1 Hatogaoka, Iwamizawa City in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space, situated in front of the Iwamizawa City Hall, is a small charming oasis in the heart of Iwamizawa City. This park measures only around 1,130 square meters. While this small park may seem unassuming at first glance, it boasts a distinctive landmark that draws visitors from near and far—the "Offering Harmony" monument.

Standing tall at 15 meters, the "Offering Harmony" Monument is not merely a structure but a commemorative masterpiece that pays homage to the essence of Iwamizawa. Crafted in a relief-like carving style, this monument depicts iconic scenes that epitomize the spirit of the city, including the lively Heavy Snow Festival, the vibrant SAIKA Flower Festival, and the traditional Hyakumochi Festival.

What truly sets this monument apart is its nighttime allure. As the sun sets and darkness descends upon the park, the "Offering Harmony" Monument transforms into a mesmerizing sight. Illuminated by lights, it casts a striking silhouette against the night sky, with hues of black and vermilion adding to its allure. This nightly spectacle not only enhances the beauty of the monument but also solidifies its status as a prominent landmark in the area.

Last November 3, 2022, my family and I went on a "Culture Trip" Road Trip and had the pleasure of visiting Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space for the very first time. This marked my 367th day in Japan as an ALT participating in the JET Programme. It wasn’t on our itinerary and as a matter of fact, I only found out about it when we passed by it on the way to Iwamizawa Shrine. Since the park was small, we were able to explore it in a very short time. It was a small but beautiful park. It’s a good place for meet-ups or to hang out with friends.

Getting to Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space 

 

To reach Hatogaoka Memorial Green Space, take the Chuo Bus Midorigaoka/Tetsuhoku Loop Line or Horomuke Line and alight at the "Shiyakusho-mae" stop. From there, it's just a one-minute stroll to your destination.

Located in Rosario in the province of Cavite, Casa Hacienda de Tejeros is famously known as the location of the historic Tejeros Convention of 1897. Agusan Del Sur: Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center

Found in Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan in the province of Agusan Del Sur, Bunawan Ecopark and Wildlife Reservation Center became famous for its world known centerpiece exhibit. Bunawan arc That exhibit is named Lolong , the world's longest salt water crocodile ever caught. Lolong was captured in Bunawan Creek, a part of the vast Agusan Marsh on September 3, 2011. Lolong In November of the same year, an Australian crocodile expert from the National geographic measured Lolong and confirmed that the crocodile was indeed the longest ever caught. the enormous Lolong measured 20 feet and 24 inches from snout to tail beating the Australian croc named Cassius which formerly holds the said title. Sula Bridge - Albay

Sula Bridge  also called  Sula Delta Bridge  is a two-lane bridge that connects Cagraray Island to mainland Albay. It is located in Barangay Sula in Bacacay in the province of Albay,  Sula Bridge Sula Bridge details According to some sources online, the history of the Sula Bridge could be traced back to the 1950s when former senator Tecla San Andres-Ziga originally visualized and initiated building a bridge that would connect the Cagraray Island to the province of Albay.
