10 More Things to Do in Asahikawa City

There are a lot of things to do in Asahikawa City (旭川市) in Hokkaido, Japan. That’s why I’m back with 10 More Things to do in Asahikawa City. However, keep in mind that some of the places here are located on the outskirts of the city. They are best visited by private vehicles or rental cars so that you can explore them or do the activities without worry.

If you have accomplished the first ten then you should do these after:

Hachiya Ramen @ Furarito

1. Go to Furarito Restaurant Street (ふらりーと) and try one of the many restaurants or izakaya there. I highly recommend Hachiya Ramen if you are looking for authentic Asahikawa Ramen.

2. Visit the Hokuchin Memorial Museum (

4. Visit bargain and used retailers like Second Street, Hard Off, Bookoff, and others. You will be shocked to discover high-end pre-loved merchandise being offered for a very low cost.

7. Watch a baseball game at Starukhin Baseball Stadium (

8. In August, see the Tambo Art (Art on Rice Fields) (JAたいせつ田んぼアート) on the outskirts of Asahikawa City. Each year, there is a different design. That's why there is always a reason to visit annually.

9.
Visit Kamuy Kotan (神居古潭) and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. This is probably one of the most scenic places in Asahikawa City. Don’t forget to take pictures of the preserved 29638 Steam Engine. As a bonus, you can do some ghost hunting at night. Just make sure to bring a bear bell with you.

Kamui Ski Links (カムイスキーリンクス)

10. Ski at Kamui Ski Links (カムイスキーリンクス). Aside from the adrenaline rush, you will also enjoy the view while riding the gondola and of course, the view from the top of the mountain.
