Recently, we achieved a milestone that shaped our journey and brought immense pride: becoming the first Filipino family to visit all 179 municipalities of Hokkaido. This achievement was recognized by Manila Bulletin, one of the leading newspapers in the Philippines, and previously by Hokkaido Shimbun, Japan's prominent publication.

Kokawadera Revisited 2023

The first time that we visited Kokawadera ( 粉河寺 ) was during the 14th day of our 2014-2015 Japan Trip which was actually during the 1st of January. Our main reason when we visited the temple was to accompany our Japanese family on their religious obligations during the Japanese New Year. This is called hatsumode .  Kokawadera Revisited 2023 Hatsumode is the Japanese tradition of visiting a shrine or temple for the first time in the New Year. This visit typically occurs during the first three days of January, although some might go within the first week.  Kokawadera - Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture During hatsumode , people pray for good fortune, health, and happiness in the coming year. They also often draw omikuji (fortune-telling paper strips) and purchase new omamori (protective charms). Sirena ng Atimonan - Quezon

Located along the Pan-Philippine Highway a few kilometers outside the town proper of Atimonan in the province of Quezon, the Sirena is a mermaid statue that is probably one of the most famous landmarks of the province. Maruyama Zoo ( 札幌市円山動物園 ) is located at Miyagaoka 3-1, Chuo-ku, Sapporo City in Hokkaido Prefecture and is one of the largest zoos not only in the prefecture but also in  Japan . Day 427: January 2, 2023 Monday – Hatsunode in Wakayama It's a cloudy morning here in  Kumatori ( 熊取町 ) My wife prepared breakfast for everybody This morning greeted us with a blanket of clouds, and the weather forecast predicted a slight chance of rain. We felt a bit anxious because today, we were set to partake in another Japanese New Year tradition, which primarily takes place outdoors.
