Japan Diaries 4: Weekend 56
Weekend 56: November 26 – 27, 2022
Day 390: November 26, 2022
Saturday – Rumoi
It's a rainy Saturday morning here in Rumoi City |
I took this opportunity to update my blog and write articles |

Family bonding time at Rumoi City Library |
That afternoon, my family and I drove to Rumoi City Library. To be honest, it’s one of the best places to visit if you want to work during the weekend. It’s warm and quiet, and there’s free internet. However, the catch is you can’t charge any device in the library. Regardless, I got to write several articles for my blog before my laptop battery was drained.

Dinner at Sukiya Rumoi |
We left at around 4:30 PM. Before, heading home we drove to Sukiya Rumoi to eat dinner.
Movie night: Interceptor (2022) |
That night we binge-watched several films on Netflix like the 2022 film Interceptor. No offense, it was probably one of the worst films that we have watched since we got here in Japan. After that, we watched The Moonlight Sonata Murder, episode 1001 of Detective Conan. We didn’t end after that as my wife and I watched 4 episodes of the Japanese drama First Love. It got us hooked that we slept around 2 AM.
Day 391: November 27, 2022
Sunday – Rumoi x Obira Onsen Trip
It is another rainy day. Like yesterday, we spent most of the day at home but instead of doing different tasks, my wife and I binge-watched the Japanese drama First Love.Obira Yuttarikan |
For a change, we left Rumoi City at around 2 PM and drove to Obira Yuttarikan in the town of Obira (小平町) to take a dip in its onsen. My wife said that the onsen here is one of the best for her so far.
Onsen time at Yuttarikan |
We stayed in the tatami rest area of Obira Yuttarikan for an hour to rest and relax before heading back home |
We stayed in Obira Yuttarikan until 4:40 PM and drove back home to continue watching the last 2 episodes of First Love. It was an enjoyable series and I particularly liked it because the song brought back memories of my younger days. Aside from that, numerous places in Hokkaido were featured in it. It gave me a new goal this coming spring - to visit the filming location of First Love.
First Love |
Overall, we might not have been able to visit any new cities, towns, or villages in Hokkaido this weekend, but we were able to go to Obira and take a relaxing dip in its onsen and of course, we enjoyed every minute of our time together.
